missouri track and field state meet 2018 Varsity Boys Green 5k-2013 Forest Park XC Festival

Race Video of the Varsity Boys Green Division 5k at the 2013 Forest Park Cross Country Festival in St. Louis' Forest Park, Saturday, September 14. The race featured some of the best runners in the Midwest and 7 boys were in contention for the individual crown with four close together at the two mile mark. O'Fallon Township High School (Illinois) Patrick Perrier pulled away from Marquette's Noah Kauppila in the last 1km to win and set a new meet record in 15:03, while Kauppila was second in 15:13, Butler Traditional High School's (KY) Patrick Gregory was third in 15:14, Glendale' Spencer Haik 4th in 15:15, Truman's Cole Rockhold 5th in 15:23, Blue Springs Stephen Mugeche 6th in 15:28, and Rock Bridge's Evan Schulte 7th in 15:33.

The O'Fallon boys captured the team title with Dorrian Gordon giving them 7 points with his 8th place finish behind teammate Perrier's individual victory. O'Fallon totaled 125 points while despite losing a lot of talent over the last two years, the Rock Bridge Bruins took second with 157 points for Coach Neal Blackburn. After a state team trophy at the Missouri Class 4 State race last year the Lafayette Lancers managed 159 points in a good showing after losing two all-staters from last year's squad. Rockhurst, one of the few Catholic boys schools in the Kansas City area just edged one of the many in St. Louis for fourth as the Hawklets scored 204 points to better St. Louis University High's 211 points. The Festus boys had a strong showing, finishing as the best Class 3 Missouri team with their 6th place total of 211, getting edged by SLUH by 26 points on the sixth-man tie-breaker. The Tigers were led by Michael Karls and Tyler Gillam who have finished next to each each of their three races this season, with Karls just edging Gillam each week.
